Pauline F. Baird
Author of "Wah Dih Story Seh?"
My name is Pauline Felicia Baird. I am a Buxtonian: that means I was born in the village of Buxton and that I lived there for most of my life. My formal education began in the village, where I attended Friendship Methodist School, Friendship Anglican School, and Buxton Government Secondary School. I later attended high school at Bladenhall Multilateral School. For my tertiary education, I attended Guyana School of Agriculture, Cyril Potter College of Education, and the University of Guyana. I left Guyana to study abroad. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Arts degree, and a Doctorate in Philosophy.
My passion is learning more about the village where I was born. As I child, I grew up hearing stories about Buxton, and as an adult I want to transcribe them. I bring the various ways of knowing from the village into academic spaces where village voices are neither often recognized nor honored. As part of my Ph. D. research project, I did a study in which I focused on the land, the people, and the practices of Buxton.
